Troy
Beaver and New Hope
Counseling
This
week, member spotlight
is on Troy Beaver and
New Hope Counseling.
New Hope Counseling
provides an outpatient
program for the treatment
of addictive diseases,
domestic violence, and
personal mental behavior
concerns. Director of
Addiction Services,
Anger Management, and
Marketing, Troy Beaver
says, “ New Hope
is the treatment provider
for Family Drug Court
with a focus on assisting
with client needs and
working toward fulfilling
the needs of the judicial
system. Our facility
helps people that desire
change in their life
to find self-acceptance.”
New Hope Counseling
is a place to turn to
when you need a supportive
and caring environment
to help with life’s
challenges. New Hope
provides many services
including alcohol and
drug evaluations, Level
One treatment for DUI
cases, alcohol and drug
education classes, anger
management evaluations
and classes, Matrix
Model (adult methamphetamine
treatment), individual
and family counseling,
urine drug screening,
pre-trial recommendations,
parenting classes, and
English and Spanish
victim impact classes.
New Hope is also a State
Certified Family Violence
Intervention Program
Provider and provides
monthly update reports
to referral sources.
Troy Beaver is a Mental
Health and Substance
Abuse Professional who
graduated from North
Georgia College in 1978
with a bachelor degree
in social work. He has
29 years experience
working in the field
of substance abuse and
mental health. He was
employed by the Department
of Human Resources from
1979 to 1999 working
as the area manager
for what is now Avita
Community Partners.
From 1999 until 2002
he was the Program Director
for National Specialty
Clinic, an opiate addiction
treatment center located
in Cartersville, Georgia.
He was then employed
by Laurelwood Psychiatric
Hospital located in
Gainesville, Georgia
as an intake specialist,
managing psychiatric
triage in the emergency
room at Northeast Georgia
Medical Center.
Troy is a native of
Union County and has
insight into the unique
cultural needs of the
people in the North
Georgia area. He has
worked in both in-patient
and out-patient settings.
Troy is very active
in the Union and Towns
communities and is a
member of many organizations
including the Union
County Anti-Drug Coalition
(board member), Union
County Interagency Group
(treasurer), Domestic
Violence Task Force,
Towns and Union County
Family Connection, Family
Violence Intervention
Committee, and the Union
and Towns County Department
of Family and Children
Services Advisory Panel.
Troy is a C.A.C. (Certified
Addiction Counselor)
eligible Mental Health
Professional. He was
a charter board member
of Mountain Day Care
Center, a Charter Board
Member of S.A.F.E.,
a member of the Temporary
Assistance for Needy
Families, and a member
of the Chamber of Commerce’s “Drugs
Don’t Work” Committee.
Troy is also a veteran
of the U.S. army.
