Norma Garrett at Home Depot

This week, member spotlight is on Norma Garrett and Home Depot.

Home Depot believes in giving back to the community. Through The Home Depot Foundation and its ongoing partnerships with nonprofit organizations, The Home Depot donates millions of hours, tools, and supplies each year to community service projects in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Through Team Depot, Home Depot associates work to create meaningful relationships between the company and local communities. Formalized in 1992, Team Depot programs bring together volunteers, do-it-yourself expertise, product donations, and monetary grants as a way to support the communities where the associates live and work.

Blairsville’s Team Depot is actively involved in many activities that help Union County. Projects and events include participation in the Great American Clean-Up, Relay for Life, Arbor Day, 21 st Century, Kid’s Fire Safety Day, the Christmas Parade, Christmas at the College ( NGTC), Hometown Halloween on the Square, work at Woody Gap School, the Blairsville Civic Center, Branan Lodge, Meeks Park, and S.A.F.E. Team Depot also hosts free “Kid’s Workshops” on the 1 st Saturday of every month and four “Do it Herself” clinics every year. They hold free clinics weekly depending on public interest with topics such as Learning how to Tile, Learning how to Install Flooring, and Learning how to Paint. Team Depot also contributes to various non-profit agencies such as Habitat for Humanity and Women’s Build.

Home Depot Customer Service Representative Norma Garrett has been with the company since 2004. She says, “Home Depot is a great place to work. It’s because of our manager, John Wischmeyer that we are able to help with so many projects in our local community. John really does believe in giving back.” Norma is Team Depot Captain, a member of the Union Towns Employer Committee, the Union County Interagency Group, and Coordinator of the Blairsville Home Depot Wellness and Health Program.

Norma Garrett is a native of Union County. She and husband Roger live off of Young Harris Highway. The couple has two daughters and three grandchildren. Norma adds, “Home Depot wouldn’t be the same without all the great associates that work here. I would name them all but might leave someone out! Come by when you are at Home Depot and say hello.”

Home Depot not only provides a great shopping experience but offers excellent customer service and professional services such as flooring installation, custom window blinds, heating and air installation, roofing, portable buildings, and shutters. Home Depot associates promise, “You can do it and we can help.”

The Union County Interagency Group is proud to spotlight Norma Garrett and Home Depot.
