Gina
Pendley at Georgia Mountains
Hospice
This week, member spotlight
is on Gina Pendley and
Georgia Mountains Hospice.
Georgia Mountains Hospice
is a local non-profit
organization specializing
in the care of patients
with a life-limiting
illness. They offer
comfort, dignity, and
support for patients
and their families as
they journey through
end-of-life issues.
Georgia Mountains Hospice
staff and volunteers
offer compassion and
real help during times
of stress and decision
making.
Georgia Mountains Hospice
is a Medicare certified
program which includes
an interdisciplinary
team of caring professionals,
durable medical equipment,
medical supplies, and
medications for patients
with life-limiting illnesses.
They serve the residents
of Cherokee, Pickens,
Gilmer, Fannin, Union,
Murray, Gordon, Dawson
and Whitfield counties.
Hospice care does not
mean giving up on life.
It means living life,
however long or short,
to its fullest, with
dignity and comfort.
Hospice is not a specific
place. Georgia Mountains
Hospice provides in-home
care, care in hospitals,
care in assisted living
facilities, and care
in nursing homes. Hospice
is not a specific medical
treatment. It includes
services aimed at eliminating
pain and fear which
allows patients to focus
on emotional and spiritual
strength in addition
to physical strength.
Georgia Mountains Hospice
is a blessing for those
who need it. It is a
great source of comfort
and help in a time of
need. Georgia Mountains
Hospice offers palliative
medical care, holistic
care (treating the patient
and loved ones together
as a whole), pain control,
symptom management,
and bereavement and
grief support services.
Georgia Mountains Hospice
is an organization that
cares deeply about what
they do. Keywords in
their mission statement
include respect, honesty,
dignity, comfort, and
confidentiality. The
Georgia Mountains Hospice
team is available 24
hours a day, seven days
a week.
Volunteer Coordinator
and Director of Community
Events and Fundraising,
Gina Pendley says, “I
have worked for Georgia
Mountains Hospice for
13 years and I love
my job. There’s
nothing I’d rather
do. I help put volunteers
in homes to relieve
caregivers, and hope
to make it easier for
both patients and their
families.”
Gina adds, “There
are many ways to become
a Georgia Mountains
Hospice Volunteer. You
can give your time by
helping patients and
families, you can volunteer
to help in our offices,
or take part in the
many fundraising and
health fair events we
have throughout the
year.”
Georgia Mountains Hospice
offers a Wishes & Dreams
program which has accomplished
some amazing things
for patients and their
families. For more information
