Lucy
McDowall, Paula Pendleton,
and Pam Ouzts at Curves
of Blairsville
This
week, member spotlight
is on Lucy McDowall,
Paula Pendleton, and
Pam Ouzts at Curves
of Blairsville.
Dedicated to women's
fitness, Curves of Blairsville
is fun, fast, and safe.
Curves offers a proven
thirty minute workout
that combines strength
training and sustained
cardiovascular activity
through safe and effective
hydraulic resistance.
Curves also offers a
commonsense weight management
program that ends the
need for perpetual dieting.
The Curves fitness
program allows you to
get a complete aerobic
and strength training
workout in just thirty
minutes. The system
is built around easy-to-learn
machines with no cumbersome
weight stacks to change
or manage. The machines
are designed specially
for women.
With hydraulic resistance,
members push the weight
forward then pull back.
There is no lowering
of the weight. The elimination
of this eccentric contraction
has several benefits
including less chance
of injury and assurance
of a symmetrical workout.
Gravity is no longer
doing half the work
so the intensity is
much greater. The heart
rate is maintained and
soreness is mostly eliminated.
Curves utilizes a
system called circuit
training where members
move from station to
station at timed intervals
with music. At the end
of thirty minutes, members
will have maintained
their target heart rate,
performed a minimum
of two sets of strength
training exercises on
every major muscle group,
and burned up to five
hundred calories.
Paula says, “At
Curves, we believe a
healthy fitness program
has three components
including effective
exercise, good nutrition,
and a supportive environment
to keep you on track.
We offer several nutritional
programs so that you
can select the best
fit for your lifestyle.”
Pam adds, “With
our system, you can
burn calories and work
every major muscle group.
You get an efficient
and effective workout
with every visit. It’s
a fun way to meet your
health goals.”
Lucy continues, “At
Curves, we encourage
women to learn about
health-related issues.
We also have a personal
coaching system called “CurvesSmart” that
customizes each workout
by monitoring heart
rate, workout intensity,
range of motion, and
repetitions. Then it
even provides a progress
report that includes
the number of calories
burned!”
